Spend some time on Star Island! Arrive on the island at 9:30 am, and then catch one of our afternoon boats back to Rye Harbor. Ferry trips are drop off/pick up only, with no guided tours.
Star Island is requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination for day visitors (i.e. anyone staying on island longer than a round trip Walkabout cruise); cards will be checked prior to boarding. As of right now, there is no indoor access to buildings allowed (other than a bathroom in the Brookfield building). Porch access is allowed except 12:15-1:30 pm when the conferees are eating lunch. Masks not required outside.
Only 5 1/2 miles from Rye lie the Isles of Shoals. This starkly remote group of nine islands is a natural habitat for many species of marine life and has a remarkable history. Relax on the boat as we cruise amongst the islands and learn about them from our expertly narrated tour.
After our Isles Tour, we will dock at Star Island for a “walkabout”. Take a step back in time as you relax in an Adirondack chair on the grand lawn of the late 1800’s Oceanic Hotel, walk the well-worn paths of the historic island town of Gosport, and listen to waves lapping and birds calling. When we arrive on the island, your captain’s narrated walking tour provides a chance to learn about the fascinating history of the island and see the stone chapel, old graveyard, fishing cottages and more. After the tour, or as soon as we dock since the guided tour is optional, there is time for you to relax and explore on your own. This trip provides an hour and twenty minutes on the island.
Per Star Island, there is no vaccine requirement for passengers on a Walkabout cruise. As of right now, there is no indoor access to buildings allowed (other than a bathroom in the Brookfield building). Porch access is allowed except 12:15-1:30 pm when the conferees are eating lunch. Masks not required outside.
